How to burn sage:
The room/house should be tidy and cleaned before starting. The windows should be closed while burning, altough once the session is over it is advised to open all windows to let some airflow in.

Have a fireproof bowl ready to catch the ashes from the smudge stick.
Then light up the tip of the stick and blow out the flames. Repeat this step until the whole tip of the stick is glowing.
Then start from the entrance door and work your way through your room/house.
It is not necessary to burn the hole stick. After the session you can put it out by dipping it in sand.

The apartment/room should be tidied and cleaned beforehand. The windows should be closed, but after smudging, it is essential to ventilate thoroughly.

You should have a fireproof bowl ready to catch the ashes from the bundle. Then light the tip of the bundle and blow out the flame. This can be repeated several times until the entire tip of the bundle glows.
The smudging should start at the entrance door, and then you slowly work your way through the apartment/room.
It is not always necessary to burn the entire bundle. The best way to extinguish the bundle is in sand.
